How To Write Analysis Report

Carlos Said:

How do you write a plot analysis?

We Answered:

Ill try to describe but this one is hard to put in words.. An analysis would be like describing what you think the author was trying to say. Not literally, but the actual underlying message or lesson he was trying to give to the reader. A summary is easier. It would be completely literal and just summarizing the story. Does that make sense? Ill try to give an example using pink floyd's "The Wall" (this is incomplete since a full analysis would be much much longer but it will give you the idea)
analysis: the main character, Pink, has a very hard life from childhood and everything bad that happens to him he uses as a metaphorical brick to build a wall that shields him from the hardships of reality and everyday life. When the wall is complete and hes completely disconnected from the world he realizes that it has actually caused him more pain than it has prevented and he is forced to tear it down which floods him with emotions hes not cable of dealing with and he goes mad.
(an in-depth look at what the message the artist/author was trying convey to the audience)

summary: the story start of with pink as a boy, he loses his father, he has an over protective mother, his wife leaves him, he goes mad and thinks that one of his concerts is a Nazi rally and he thinks he believes hes Hitler. (a very literal, on the surface summary of what takes place in the film)

This is the best I could do without writing a huge 3 page long explanation but I think it gives you the point. If it doesnt this should be much more helpful.
