How To Write A Report In English

Christian Said:

how should i write my book report?

We Answered:

Don't be worried that people might think that you are not good enough to be around them! If they care, then they are not good and loyal friends, I would ask them if I were you. Trust me, if they were good friends willing to help other people, they would help you. Most people enjoy teaching other people, and most people feel shy to ask (like me) but once I've learned how to open my mouth, I'm as good as ever (straight A+s with only one A in Language Arts -- dang it!)

Do you feel stupid about getting help from a sixth grader? Don't.

Well, about your report, I really need to know the book to help you with the format of the report.

First, you should put an introduction like "What kind of books do you read? Well, have you read this one yet? If not, well, why don't you read what it's about? Here you go!"

I made that up on the spot, you need to put something like that, but a little better. Then you rocket off about the beginning, the characters, the setting, etc. you describe what's happening with your own words, but you have to make interesting remarks in the middle of paragraphs/parts where it would get boring if you didn't put them in. A good idea is to ask questions to about what the reader predicts would happen, like if it was in a mystery book --

"So, what do you think will happen? Who's the murderer and thief? Why do you think so? Don't you think *SOME PERSON* would be likely? He always snoops about and appears mysteriously. Wrong, it's *SOME OTHER PERSON*. *A THIRD PERSON* was going to the teacher's classroom to get forgotten homework, when he heard a scuffling about. He knew that the teachers were gone, so he listened and *SOME OTHER PERSON* was muttering about how he would make himself appear innocent."

You don't always have to include quotes from the story or exactly what they say, unless it's important. You should already know that. Shorten some events to just a few words. Try to build suspense during the report just like a book, just it's a summary of the book.

At the end, I would put "Well, waddya think? Good book? Gonna pick it up next time at the library? Go for it!" I would put everything in the book in there except for part of the end, like right after the suspense in the real book.

Hope this helps!

This is for anyone that knows anything about The Beatles...I have to write a report...Need answer soon...?

We Answered:

In Montreal back in the 70's John Lennon and Yoko did a bed-in. They stayed in a hotel bed all weekend to promote peace. My dad was one of the reporters there. Pete Best, the original drummer of the Beatles, before they were famous, left the band. He regretted that for his whole life!

Scientology can improve your looks! Check out these pix of Lisa McPherson before and after she joined the Church of Scientology:
