Figure out what your costs are. That is important. You need to decide who much money it will cost you to do business (rent,advertising, office expenses etc.), what you want to pay yourself (be reasonable), and what profit you want to have to go back into the business. I have a consulting aspect to my company and that is how I came up with my "retail" numbers. We charge by the hour for smaller, short term projects. We also provide any client with a package, flat rate charge for more complex projects or if they request it.

Market Research Companies are big business .. they CHARGE for their reports :-)

You want a specific Report ? you can either pay for a copy of an existing Report or pay to have them do the specific research just for you.

General Market Research is available from Government statistics office .. this may be good enough ..

When I worked for a market research firm (within the year), I believe we charged about $7250 to do one focus group plus all costs (incentives, travel, food, facility rental, etc.). This cost included us preparing screeners and the actual questions/activities in the focus group and giving a detailed analysis report.
