hypothesis to write a chemistry lab report about different color of flame!?We Answered:
from welding and cutting using fire my understanding is the white tip inside the blue flame, inside is the hottest. so you go into the flame until you get to the tip top of innermost flame.I would hypothesis there is less oxygen there since the oxygen reacting with air is on outer surface of flame, so there is less fluctuation and chemical reaction with outside of flame to air surface, which creates a steady, stronger flame.
so orange is weak, blue stronger, white inside blue at tip of flame strongest.
you may need shades to see into flame like that. I use welding goggles, and think lighten shades for working with fire, at least protective glasses. For welding you need protection glasses, shaded or you burn your eyeball.
edit- also if I make a flame with acetylene and oxygen, if I have too much ? haven't worked with fire in a while, if the mix is not right I get a sloppy flame and alot of orange and black smoke. I think that is , I can't remember too much acetylene, which you can smell, or too much oxygen.?
I would guess not enough oxygen, since you only open oxygen 1/4 turn, and acetylene open full way. Oxygen being more flamable, you want to be able to close asap. air tank.
you adjust the guages from the tanks.

How long does it take YOU to write a chemistry lab report? We Answered:
It takes an hour to write a general chemistry report if you know what you're doing. May take more or less depending on how fast you are and how well you understand the material. As a procrastinator myself, the best advice I can give is to start now and figure it out yourself. Lab reports are so easy and it's the dumbest way to lose points.

how to write a chemistry lab report? We Answered:
Well the tricky thing about lab reports is that although they may seem very simple, you can actually get pretty anal with them and depending on your teacher, they can really suck.Whenever I write up lab reports, I always focus on four major topics:
Introduction: Let the professor know what you actually did in the lab, the purpose, and the main idea.
Reactions: This part is usually the worst but allows you to really show that you know what is going on in the lab and that you are not just blindly breezing through the directions without a clue as to what is actually going on.
Results: Here summarize what took place, what you actually did in the lab. You might include important features such as color changes, changes in the temperature, and what not depending on what type of lab you are doing. You will also what to include any type of data obtained from FTIR, NMR, GC-MS and so on. Do not attempt to explain the data here, just report your results.
Conclusion: Here is where you make judgements based on your data and conclude your findings. This is where you will actually want to use your data to prove the point that you are tring to make. For example, if you are trying to identify an unknown compound you will want to refer to specific results from the previous section to justify your reasoning.
Hope this helps you out, please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. I would even be more than happy to e-mail you a couple of my old lab reports from gen. chem. and organic if you think they would help.

Can you put a table in the research section of a chemistry lab report? We Answered:
In general you can structure your report using whatever strategies help you to present the data in a clear and useful way. However each institution has its own "rules" so its best to check with your tutor what those rules are.I think what you are talking about here is not really a table but simply a 3*3 grid with headings metal, powder, liquid. Inside each cell you will have some text. That seems very sensible and acceptable to me.
