How does Business relate to Chemistry?

We Answered:

Business is all about making money which means having good products and using the cheapest materials and that includes materials for packaging too.

Chemistry is the study of all the elements on Earth. These include EVERYTHING on Earth. lol
Think about it. if you are a Business major, you're job is to sell a product that works and at the same time saves you money. So you'll have to either have to be knowledgeable in Chemistry or, chances are, you'll have Chemist who work to make the product that you're selling. Whether it's cereal, Tupperware, condoms, dog food, or gasoline. The study of the elements, their properties and their abundance is going to affect the cost and quality of your product and it's packaging.

Have you ever had an ethical dilemma (business related)?

We Answered:

I don't know how juicy it is, but it nicely illustrates an ethical dilemma.

Burger King (or McDonald's insert fast food restaurant name here) has informed us that if you show up in your uniform (law enforcement and fire departments) at their restaurant, your meal is half-price. BK wants to do this because they believe people are more comfortable if they see an uniformed presence.

Should I accept the discount?

Nobody seems to have a problem accepting the discount until you start changing things.

Is it ethical for me to take my family with me when I eat and accept the discount for the whole family?

Is it ethical for me to just request that they give me the money instead of the discount?

Another one: Your fire department is paid with subscriptions (instead of tax money). A home that has subscribed for 20 years catches on fire. Unfortunately, they forgot to pay their subscription this year (for whatever reason you decide). Should the fire department put out their fire? I mean, if we do, it just tells others that we'll be there even if you don't pay for your subscription. If we don't, we have to face a lot of ill will from the neighbors for allowing the house to burn down.

What's the ethical thing to do?
