How do you get a job writing for Yahoo News?We Answered:
I agree with bgee. Plus you might want to do things like volunteer as a Moderator for a yahoo site or two and build up some credentials that way as well. If they see you are trustworthy and volunteering for them that might help on your resume.Priscilla Said:
For You High School English Teachers...?We Answered:
Personally, I am all for students picking anything to read, so long as they are reading. The Twilight books are on my own summer reading list, as I am preparing for my 1st year of teaching in the Fall. That being said, if she has stated clearly that this book will not work for her book report requirements, she should stick to it and refuse to accept any reports on it, as she is already doing. I do think that students need to get acquainted with the classics and adult lit too, not just YA lit. and sometimes they need to be forced out of their comfort zone.
Perhaps she could let them turn in a report on popular novels as a small extra credit assignment AFTER they have turned in their assigned report?

Read the adult version. It's not difficult, and while you may be an adolescent, you're not a child.Marsha Said:
How do i start out a book report comparing the themes of two different books? We Answered:
Both books deal with the idea of censorship and the twisting of a message so that it no longer means what it did originally. Both books deal with oppressive control, particularly the control of ideas. Both books deal with the giving up of personal freedoms and the gullibility that led to that situation.ANIMAL FARM
The story is told from the perspective of the common animals as a whole. Gullible, loyal, and hardworking, these animals give Orwell a chance to sketch how situations of oppression arise not only from the motives and tactics of the oppressors but also from the naïveté of the oppressed, who are not necessarily in a position to be better educated or informed. When presented with a dilemma, Boxer prefers not to puzzle out the implications of various possible actions but instead to repeat to himself, “Napoleon is always right.” Animal Farm demonstrates how the inability or unwillingness to question authority condemns the working class to suffer the full extent of the ruling class’s oppression.
One of Orwell’s central concerns, both in Animal Farm and in 1984, is the way in which language can be manipulated as an instrument of control. In Animal Farm, the pigs gradually twist and distort a rhetoric of socialist revolution to justify their behavior and to keep the other animals in the dark. The animals heartily embrace Major’s visionary ideal of socialism, but after Major dies, the pigs gradually twist the meaning of his words. As a result, the other animals seem unable to oppose the pigs without also opposing the ideals of the Rebellion. By the end of the novella, after Squealer’s repeated reconfigurations of the Seven Commandments in order to decriminalize the pigs’ treacheries, the main principle of the farm can be openly stated as “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” This outrageous abuse of the word “equal” and of the ideal of equality in general typifies the pigs’ method, which becomes increasingly audacious as the novel progresses. Orwell’s sophisticated exposure of this abuse of language remains one of the most compelling and enduring features of Animal Farm, worthy of close study even after we have decoded its allegorical characters and events.

FAHRENHEIT 451
The theme of Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 can be viewed from several different angles. First and foremost, Bradbury's novel gives an anti-censorship message. Bradbury understood censorship to be a natural outcropping of an overly tolerant society. Once one group objects to something someone has written, that book is modified and censorship begins. Soon, another minority group objects to something else in the book, and it is again edited until eventually the book is banned altogether. In Bradbury's novel, society has evolved to such an extreme that all literature is illegal to possess. No longer can books be read, not only because they might offend someone, but because books raise questions that often lead to revolutions and even anarchy. The intellectual thinking that arises from reading books can often be dangerous, and the government doesn't want to put up with this danger. Yet this philosophy, according to Bradbury, completely ignores the benefits of knowledge. Yes, knowledge can cause disharmony, but in many ways, knowledge of the past, which is recorded in books, can prevent man from making similar mistakes in the present and future.

Is high school fun? Is it hard? I'm homeschooled and want to join?We Answered:
Yes! get out of homeschooling and go to a high school! its a lot of fun, and not very hard. You will have to put forth some effort, but your tutor will catch you up. You'll really enjoy meeting a bunch of new people, and having friends and maybe even girl/boy friends. (i dont know your gender haha) The teachers do expect you to somewhat remember the stuff you did last year, but it's never too hard. Get ready for the most exciting times of your life :) Good luck/ have fun!
