My prayers are with Jake but he has to understand that he is reporting on facts that I and millions of other people knew for quite some time. The Turkish politicians have made it quite clear that they have done everything that they could to integrate the Kurds into the Turkish society, including giving them culture independence.

Jake should be thankful that the Turkish authorities will let him leave the country in a few weeks, if not sooner.

Kurds was an independent country (I don’t know the name) prior to the 1st world war; after the war the country was divided up between Iran, Iraq, and Turkey.

The Kurds had no say in the matter just as the Native Americans had no say in the take over of their countries.

I would suggest that Jake report on situations where his reporting will make a difference in the lives of people: Jake can report on the growing homeless population in America and else where; most people are not aware of the economic sufferings, suicides, major displacements that are occurring in this country and elsewhere.

To become a good reporter, Jake has to focus his activities on areas where his reporting will make a difference.

Without arguing the Turkey/Kurish issue, it can become very unpleasant when your name appears on a "List". Ask american kids being grounded because of having the same name as a terror suspect, ask foreigners being denied visas or "held" at US Airports and last not least ask all these "terror suspects" sitting in "secret" jails for years now without lawyers, family visits, tec.

Sometimes it even takes an Emirati student being late for take off to get detained.

Bottom line, your friend will get deported soon, don't get tortured and don't starve. Regarding the American Embassy quoted in Antiwar, he wants to keep his deportation as a private matter. Let's respect this.

I think your friend unfortunately learned the hard way that many counties do not have the freedom of speech or press that we have here in the USA. Although this is an extremely unfortunate situation, he should have known better, and should have been more careful. Where are the liberals now, I wonder? Shouldn't they be screaming for his release? Shouldn't they be pushing for "humane treatment"? Be thankful that you live in a country where you have rights. The next time the left bashes the USA as "racist" or some-kind-of-a-phobe, or "intolerant", remind them of your friend, and what has happened to him in another country.
