Judith Said:

can someone explain to me what they mean by the word brainstorming in writing a paper?

We Answered:

When you 'brainstorm' you just write some general ideas that you know you will incorporate into your paper.

This could take the form of an outline, but sometimes brainstorming can be just random--its up to you, or the guidelines you've been given.

Really, this is just an exercise to help get you started before you begin to write the paper.

I recommend using an outline format. That way your thoughts can be put into categories if need be.

Good Luck!

My science lab report is confusing me! What is VISCOSITY!?!?

We Answered:

it's a type of measurement. It's exact def. varies depending on the substance. So if your were determining the viscosity of a skincare product like cream than the thicker the cream the higher the viscosity. in a liquid it would be the measure of resistance to flow

Lewis Said:

I'm writing a summer reading report and it says what is the subject of this book. What does that mean?

We Answered:

That's just another way of asking ,"What is the book about?" With most books, there are long, complicated answers you could give to that question, and also short answers. For example, you could say that "Robinson Crusoe" is a book about a man who gets shipwrecked on an island and lives there for many years. You could say that "Gulliver's Travels" is a book about a man who travels to four strange countries, one inhabited by miniature people, one inhabited by giants, one where scientists live on islands that float in the air, and one where intelligent horses are the dominant species and humans are wild beasts. You could say that the Harry Potter books are about a boy who attends a special school for young people with magical powers. And so on.

As you probably know, the theme of a book has to do with its "moral" or its "message," not just its subject matter. To use the Harry Potter books as an example again, you could say that the theme of those books is something like "growing up" or "learning to know yourself" or "coming to terms with your individual uniqueness."

Rosa Said:

what is a easy definition of collage for my situation?

We Answered:

a 'collage' is a picture, that you make, by pasting other pictures and materials from magazines, photos, pieces of cloth. (You can use magazine aritcles, newspaper clippings, even your own stencil work). You cut the pictures you want to use in a variety of shapes and sizes, and paste them on cardboard to create a larger picture. If all the pictures you use to make the collage are similar or have the same meaning, then you have a theme.
