Amy Said:

I am starting a business, what things can i write off come tax time?

We Answered:

Expenses that are reasonable and necessary for your business are eligible deductions. Startup expenses though aren't all deducted the first year, they're amortized, or spread across several years.

Unless the laptop is used ONLY for your business, you can't deduct the full amount, you'd have to prorate it for business use.

If you have a place in your house that's used ONLY for business, you might be eligible for a home office deduction, which could include part of SOME of the household bills like utilities.

You'd be wise to see a tax professional at least your first year, to help you get started right.

Business - Recruitment and Training?

We Answered:

you would have to include the thought processes about how the recruitment takes place, how you will prepare a person specification, how many will need to be recruited, how the selection procedure will be done. Then go on to talk about what training the new recruit will need on the first day so they can function straight away (that will differ depending on the work environment) - this is often called induction training, then what training needs to be planned for them in future to enable them to develop (some need continuing personal development qualifications to do certain jobs)

What's the best way to cite research in a book?

We Answered:

I've done some of those where MLA and APA really don't fit the situation. I kind of made up my own system, which resembled Turabian (or Chicago style), with footnote. That was much easier because, when you make an in-text reference, it is just a number, and then Word takes you to the foot of the page or the end of the document for you to write the cite automatically. The professor loved it.

Tara Said:

What is the best form of documentation for an informational book?

We Answered:

the only time anyone looks at any references is if they have seen something in your work that they want to research further and in more detail - no reason to change the normal citation method. Use MLA
