Before you spend the time and effort drafting a letter, I recommend you go to each company's web site and look up their giving policy and application process. You can usually find this on the "about us" pages if it is not listed on the home page. You'll want to make sure that you meet their eligibility requirements, and that they fund similar projects, before you go thru with a solicitation.

As for spokespeople, your best bet (unless you know someone who knows someone) is to go tthrough their agent. Again this is information you can best research via the web before you invest a lot of time and effort in writing letters to send out randomly.

Unless you have the intent to break the Immigration laws when you write the letter, you will not be responsible for the conduct of the person you are sponsoring. All you are saying is you think the person is a good person and you will provide them a place to stay and food if they run out of money or shelter.
