Writing A Letter Of Resignation

Ryan Said:

I'm writing a letter of resignation because of discrimination?

We Answered:

Well I read your other question about Walmart and it seems you like to work there.
I do believe people have this mindset that they have to be miserable, and I think the same things you do.. why? why do they feel that way.
I can only assume they think it's normal, how sad is that.
I stay way from those cashiers if I can, I don't want to deal with them.
Maybe you should put that in your reasons for leaving, the bad attitudes of fellow employees.
Maybe that'll wake them up.
It's strange though right.. how you feel discriminated against because you're the only one who seems to like their job, but also the only Caucasian.
But some how the truth of that makes me look like the bad guy, I didn't want to say it.. but God there's some truth to it.

Quitting a job and writing a letter of resignation?

We Answered:

Whether you are leaving because of the people (or person) or because of the company itself, one should always end the letter of resignation on an upbeat note. If you are unhappy with the company you might say something like...."I have worked with some exceptional individuals in this company. The time I have spent learning from them will certainly prove invaluable to me as I continue my career beyond this company." Note: Use the company name.
At least you have noted that there was some good people working at the company and that way you do not need to mention the unhappiness you have felt with the company itself.
There is an old saying that goes something like this..."...don't burn your bridges behind you..." You never know when you are going to need another reference from that company. Good luck with your future!

Any tips for writing a letter of resignation?

We Answered:

I would simply say - "I hereby give you notice of my intention to terminate my employment with your firm, with effect from today's date. Therefore my last day of employment will be ....." And then sign off. I would keep it very short and very simple. When you hand the letter to your boss, then you can tell him face to face why you are leaving which is better than putting it in a letter. Also it shows that he doesn't frighten you cos of how he's been and will show that you're confident and what a loss to his company you'll be. Good luck.
