Write A Letter To A Soldier

Marvin Said:

What would you write in a letter to a soldier in Iraq?

We Answered:

WOW
start by introducing yourself
then tell something about yourself
tell him/her how proud you are to be writing to a soldier in Iraq.
ask questions
tell them about your school assignment (you can leave out the part about comforting them) and tell them what you think about the war there.
tell them what is going on in your home town
just plain old talk is all they want from us here...just what is going on and all...nothing fancy...something personal

What to include to my letter to a soldier?

We Answered:

i personally think the length should be totally up to the student...

tell them what your country means to you. tell them that you are thinking of them and are thankful for what they are doing to protect the freedom of america. really go in depth on how much america means to you. they will appreciate that. most of all, just let your letter flow from your heart. if you got a chance to sit down one on one with a soldier...what would you want to say to them? write about that.

How would you write a letter to a soldier?

We Answered:

My fiance is currently deployed along with 36+ friends of mine. They are Marines and here's what I generally write in letters to them.

- How are they doing?
- I tell them about the current events going on
- Tell them about yourself
- Ask about them
- Tell them that you appreciate what they are doing
- Give them reminders of home in a sense
- Funny hand drawn pictures

They like to be reminded that people care about them and respect them. Reminders of home are always a good thing. Get to know him/her and wish him/her happy holidays. Take his/her mind off the war for the few seconds he is reading your letter.

Good luck!

You did not chose gang vilince but a vilince that many have givin in to. Hope you feel better soon.

What do you usually write in a letter to a soldier?

We Answered:

irony is the best thing... with a little luck you will find a yankees fan to write too... seriously, anything that is normal... so as the other poster put it, write about normal everyday things... take that soldier out of the war for 3 minutes with life back home. works pretty well.

We Answered:

I work for the military and know from past experience those guys don't care WHAT you write about--just that you write!

I would try to make my letters as full and chatty as possible. Tell them about the latest movies that you've seen, what's new in fashion, tell them about your hometown, your high school, your favorite classes, your favorite teachers. Talk about your hobbies, the books you've read, plays you've seen.

But don't forget to ask them about themselves--where they are from, about their family, what they like to do when they are home, ask about their favorite cars, sports, etc. People like to talk about themselves. Remember, these guys and gals are away from home and are lonely and homesick.

If you can manage it occasionally, send them some homemade cookies or other goodies! They love getting packages from home--you can find all kinds of neat, silly little things to send them from the Dollar Store! They love getting things like shampoo, soap, rubber balls, small stuffed animals, small tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant.

Good look with your project. I commend you and your project partner for your efforts to entertain our troops and I know they, too, will appreciate it.
