I have 3 suggestions. My seventh grade English teacher had us write the company of our favorite brand of chapstick or any product of something we liked. She then graded the letters we wrote for mistakes, and then for our grade. If we received a letter or product from the company we received extra credit. I wrote to my favorite chapstick company and they sent me a letter with free chapsticks! Many others also received items.

Another idea would be to write to the soldiers. I had to do that for extra credit one day in school. Also, in second grade my teacher set up a penpal program with a class from another school. We wrote our letters every week to our penpal and then at the end of the year both classes met up to meet out penpals! I loved that project.

The teacher can be from any year, as long as you have kept in contact with them. And they have to know you well, and know what your grades/participation is like. It is very good to get letters from any coaches, or someone from your community service/volunteer projects. Dont get them all from one place. Get one from a teacher, one from a volunteer/comm. serv. and one from a counselor. Good luck!

DOMA is a Federal Law, enacted by Congress and signed by President Clinton.

I would write my State Senators, Congressman, and also a letter to the President urging him to sign if Cogress passes the repeal.

In my letter I would specify what negative effects DOMA has had on gay couples, as well as how DOMA negatively impacts our nation's status as a progressive world leader of freedom and human rights
