If you can't find the Autosave feature, you can consciously press the "Save Drafts" button at the top of your message at regular intervals while you work. This puts a copy of your message in the Drafts folder while you continue to work.

Here is a template of what I do when sending query letters. I wrote it as a novel query letter. You will of course fill in the title yourself. This is an example and not one of my own query letters. If submitting a short story to an anthology, you would do the same format, but change the number of words.

Dear Mr or Ms (Editor’s name),

I am submitting my manuscript, The Vampire, for possible representation with your agency. It contains approximately 85,000 words, and is structured with industry standard format. My manuscript is of the horror genre and is not currently on contract with any publisher or any other agent at this time.

My story is about a vampire who wakes up after five hundred years of lying dormant in a cave in (where the creature is). Wrongly accused of endangering the clan with acts of violence, (he/she) seeks revenge on those who still live.

Note: At this point you will give your writing credits such as stories published along with the dates.

Thank you for your kind consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for the opportunity to submit my work.

On the HOME tab,
click "Paragraph" (bottom, right corner of the bar)
click "Indents and Spacing" tab at the top of the window
Under "Line Spacing" use the drop-down menu to select
"Single"
Click "OK"
