Sign the letter between sincerely yours and your printed name. Also, if the facility is charging you a penalty for breaking a contract, go ahead and put that money along with the monthly payment you still owe into an escrow account and then negotiate with them directly. If they do not want to cooperate, you got the money in the escrow account, they can't just sue you for non-payment. You might want to check with your local magistrate court on how to establish that. How about this - take a little responsibility for your actions and fulfill the terms of the contract. You signed a contract and now want to weasel out - is that right? Certainly you must be close to being of legal age, or the person would not have signed you up.

I have worked at a large apartment complex as an assistant manager. Let me tell you this what you want to do is NOT cancel the lease. What you are wanting to do is remove your name from the lease. Depending on your wives credit it may NOT be something that the complex will allow you to do. If they do NOT allow you to remove your name from the lease they would just have you down as basically a co-signer. This is to only say if something goes wrong with say, she doesn't pay her rent you would still be liable for that.

If you do decide to cancel the lease and your wife move out. You will have in most cases a large cancellation fee. It may not be worth it to cancel at this point. If she can make the rent and everything is fine with her doing it, then just stay on. When the lease is up for renewal tell them to remove your name at that point.
