1 - Introduce yourself
2 - Let customer's know how long you have been carrying out your trade (experience)
3 - Let them know what qualifications you have in your specialist skill!
4 - Invite them to contact you via as many methods as possible Phone / Mobile / Email & Letter - website??
5 - Hint at competitive prices and make them want to call you!

well first you would probably want to use grammer and spell correctly, but seriously look at what they want you to write a lot of colleges will have ideas or something specific that they want you to write about. If not use one that you have used for other colleges if you have. If not then just write about something important to you that says something about you. Another tip ask your english teacher and or guidance counselor they should be able to help you.

If you insist on using snail mail, introduce your products with a four color brochure that talks about their benefits and directs people to your website which gives them all the bells and whistles including costs and delivery options and takes orders. Use PayPal to collect the money. Without a web presence what have you got? People will not take you seriously..

1) Emphasise the benefits to them, rather than cold facts. Instead of 'Based Locally' try 'Faster response times and lower costs as based locally.

2) Highlight the key benefit the letter is about in a header or bullet points. You only have a few seconds for them to decide whether to actually read the letter in full.

3) Keep it short - more than one page (side) is too long is most cases.

4) Have a call to action - tell them what to do next: "call for a quote", "order your brochure today", "Register on our web site"

5) A PS. can repeat or emphasise a key point, or add for ce to the call to action, such as "Call this week for a 5% discount!"

6) Use decent quality paper (although not nessesarily expensive branded paper) and pre-printed letterhead or decent colour quality laser print.
