How To Write An Email Letter

Maureen Said:

How can I write an-email asking for a reccomandation letter???

We Answered:

First, you can make sure the email you compose is free from spelling errors. Spell checker should be your best friend, based on the reading of your question. Then, be succinct and direct. Ask for what you want up front, don't dance around the issue. If you are soliciting a letter of recommendation, make sure you let the writer know who the target is (who is he writing the letter to), why you think this person would be a good source for a letter of recommendation, and what you ultimately want in life if you are selected for whatever the letter of recommendation is for. You might give a couple of bullets to add in. For example you could ask the writer to mention your demeanor or work effort, or a specific project, especially if it pertains to that area you are trying to get into.

how to write an email for recommendation letter to my old boss?

We Answered:

What SORT of Letter of Recommendation?

For a College?
For a new Job?

Dear Mr. Smith:

I am writing you to request a Letter of Recommendation from you. The time I spent working with XYZ Corp. was an invaluable experience, and I will always remember my experiences there and the great relationships I built.

Now that I am moving on with my career, I find that I am in need of a Letter of Recommendation from you for my file.

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Sincerely....

HOPE THAT HELPS!

BTW... this really is not an ETIQUETTE question... but thanks for asking!

Have a polite day.
