I am surprised you did not receive a template for this. A Sponsor letter should clearly state:
- where you are going & when
- why you decided to go (* very important)
- what your role will be
- what the goal of the trip is to be
- what specifically you want the person to do
- when they need to do it by

I would recommend asking for more than just money. People who may be strapped financially will want to know they can support by prayers, donation of goods, borrowing items from them (ie, luggage) etc.

When you are done, turn your sponsorship letter in so it can be used as a template for next year ;-)

Never heard of major companies sponsoring someone for college! Most companies have reimbursement plans for college but you have to work for those companies. Have you tried student loans?

If not then I don't think anyone will really sponsor you, maybe if you had an Illness, god forbid, even then they might not..don't try to get sick.
