You would start by saying "This letter is to introduce ... " and then you would go on to give the reasons you recommend the person. Your experience with them. Then you would conclude by saying "I believe that ... would be an excellent ..." Pax-C

Begin by saying thank you. Tell her exactly what happened because she wrote the letter. (Thanks to your letter, I got a job at Co&Co; etc.) That will make her feel good, because it will make her feel like she did something productive by helping you. Humbly offer to help if she ever needs anything. Say thanks again. In the end it should look something like this:

Dear Professor ___________,
I just wanted to thank you for writing me that letter of recommendation. Thanks to you, I got that management position at Something Inc. (or whatever her letter did for you). I'll always remember my _________ professor that helped me get my [first job, management position, etc.]. If there's ever anything I can do in return, I'd love to repay the favor. Thank you again.

Sincerely,
[Your name here]

Of course, adjust it to be more or less formal as much as you need. The same if you need it to be longer or shorter. ALWAYS use proper grammar and spelling. If you want to show off a little, slip something she taught you into the letter somewhere.
