How To Write A Great Cover Letter
Kristina Said:
how to write a cover letter(for acting)? We Answered:
A coverletter for agent submissions is more a formality to be sent with your headshot and resume that is neatly cut and stapled to fit the back of the headshot. The coverletter is seldom if never read by agents, so make it concise and have GREAT headshots and resumes!
Here are some tips and ALL you need to say for a Coverletter:
-You want to address it to the SPECIFIC AGENT HEAD of the division you're interested in. It makes the letter personable and doesn't lead the agent to think that your letter was one of hundreds.
-Don't give your age in the coverletter. You might appear younger or maybe older when you meet with them and they might see you differently from your headshots. You give your age when they ask while actually meeting with them. This is for legal purposes ie. You can't do ANY alcohol related commercials if you're NOT at least 25. And if you're under 18, a parent or legal guardian HAS to be on set and you CAN'T work normal hours.
-Don't list past agencies that you've worked with. You don't know the relationship between that agent and the current agency you're applying to. They might hate eachother.
-Don't talk about stuff that's already on your resume. It's cliche.
-Don't put yourself down. "I don't have much experience but...." You're already giving the agent a reason why they shouldn't sign you yet let alone meet with you.
-Don't describe yourself in adjectives "hardworking, determined, polite, friendly, etc." It's CLICHE!
-If you're under 18 make sure a guardian also signs the coverletter.
Here's all you need to say:
Dear (Specific agent's name),
Hello my name is (your name) and I am currently seeking (insert either commercial or theatrical depending on the addressed agent) representation. Please find enclosed my picture and resume for your consideration. I look forward to meeting you soon! Thank you.
Sincerely,
(sign your name here with a BLUE Ballpoint pen so it's more personal)
Your name (Typed)
(xxx)XXX-XXXX
(Email address)
P.S. (type something quirky/creative and TRUE about yourself to make this concise letter stand out.)

how to write a cover letter? We Answered:
If there are (as like as not) 20 other applicants after the same job - even the best written covering letter is unlikely to catch the eye or get you on the interview list.Keep it brief, simple and to the point.
And -ideally - attach a photograph of yourself - holding an animal of sort - showing your actual enthusiam or work experience.
Pictures speak louder than words,
Hope this helps - and Good luck.

Can you help me to write a cover letter please? We Answered:
in a correctly spelt and properly laid out letter, starting Dear (name) or Dear Sir/Madam, you sayI am applying for the post of xxx which was advertised xxxx. I am interested in this job because (something that attracts you about the job) and I believe my background/skills of (add something that is relevant aboutyou, eg 'customer care skills gained at M and S; or the skills I have developed in staying calm under pressure which I have gained from my voluntary work as a ....) would enable me to do this job well and become an asset to xxxx. As a new graduate I am keen to gain work experience and start to build my career; I am commited to working hard; and being of benefit, in all the work I do, and would like the opportunity of meeting with you in an interview.
Yours faithfully (if you don't know their name) or sincerely (if you do know their name)

How to write a great covering letter? We Answered:
Please .......no more covering letters! Believe me, it`s hard enough to filter through the numerous resumes, for every vacancy, let alone reading more "detail" from a covering letter! If it`s not in the resumecv, then look at revising it. You will not achieve anything by adding extra detail that should already be inter-grated in the initial response.Aaron Said:
How do I write a cover letter?I have been a hairstylist for 20 years. Can someone help me?We Answered:
Your first paragraph should introduce the job that you are applying for and where you have seen it.Second paragraph should talk about your previous jobs, drawing on your transferable skills. ie. communication, teamwork, customer service, self motivated - the list could go on.
You could also briefly mention any relevant qualifications or training.
Third paragraph should link you to the company. Why that particular job for that particular company. This will require some research into the organisation. How your experience is relevant to the advertised post.
Conclude by stating that you are available for interview any time and hope to hear from them in the near future.
Keep this all short and snappy. try not to waffle and only include relevant info. an employer wont have time to read through pages and pages of your life history.
Hope this helps a little.
