We Answered:

Depending on which version of Word you have...

Create a letter
The Letter Wizard in Word can help you write a letter quickly and easily. The wizard provides frequently used letter elements — such as salutations and closings — that you can select from lists. The wizard also helps you structure your letters based on frequently
used letter styles.
Use the following procedure, which requires the Office Assistant, to create a letter with the Letter Wizard. If you do not have the Office Assistant installed, you can also start the Letter Wizard by clicking Project Gallery on the File menu, clicking the Letters-Envelopes
category, and then double-clicking Letter Wizard.
1. Type a salutation that starts with the word "Dear" followed by a name and a colon or
comma — such as Dear Thomas, — and then press RETURN.
The Office Assistant will appear, asking if you would like help writing your letter.
2. In the Office Assistant, click Get help with writing the letter.
3. Follow the instructions in the Letter Wizard. If you want to skip a step or go to a specific
panel, click one of the tabs.
Note To use the Letter Wizard to modify or complete an existing letter, open the letter in
Word, and then click Letter Wizard on the Tools menu.

Sarah Said:

how do you write the right hand top corner in a friendly letter?

We Answered:

The date goes in the upper right hand corner. If you're writing from an interesting place, such as "from a cafe in paris", add that in a line below the date.

Judy Said:

How to start a Friendly Letter?

We Answered:

I'll sort of explain then give a short example. Friendly letters [like business letters] always begin with Dear and a name. However, [as opposed to business letters,] they give the first name [instead of a title and last name], and also have a comma after the name [instead of a semi-colon]. You always summarize a letter in one or two sentences at the beginning in its own paragraph, then you can go ahead and do what you want with the rest. Make sure each paragraph is indented and there is a blank line between each. And don't use formal language like "Therefore," or "as well." Just write it a lot like you would speak.
The Dear opening line and all paragraphs should be left aligned, but the Sincerely closing lines should be right indented.
Ex.:

Dear <First name>,

[Describe your letter in a casual way, such as:] I know you wanted me to tell you about my hobbies and some activities I do for fun, so I decided to give you a quick run-down of some of my favorites. [Now give a sentence that lists the hobbies/activities.] I like playing musical instruments like piano and trumpet, and I've even picked up on the flute, but I'm also in Air Force ROTC.
[End paragraph.]
[Talk about each one in order in separate paragraphs.]

Sincerely,
<Your first name>

EX: Hopefully your students this year aren't as chatty as we were(:

i have to write a friendly letter...?

We Answered:

Yes the paragraphs are indented

Randall Said:

How do u end a friendly letter in Dutch ?

We Answered:

Groeten. - greetings (to someone else?)

or

Het beste. Het aller beste. - wish the best or the very best.

or

Tot ziens. See you

or

Met vriendelijke groet en hopelijk tot ziens. - while friendly greeting and hope to see you

by the way: Write "I hope to see you soon as a final line, not to end the letter with. It would be: Ik hoop dat we elkaar binnenkort weer "tegenkomen." (tegenkomen is engaging, ontmoeten would be to date, zien is more like visiting). Write your name without a dot. Perhaps it is a good idea to wish them good holidays with: Prettige feestdagen. or even a happy new year: Prettige feestdagen en een gelukkig nieuwjaar.
