I would recommend you look at the book "Knock "Em Dead Cover Letters". They put out a new edition each year and it always gets a 5 star rating.

They also have a "Knock "em Dead Interview" "Knock 'em Dead Resume" books you can check out.

You do need to tailor your cover letter and indeed your resume for each individual employer. I simply go in an cut and paste the resume most like the one I need and form a new document and then make changes as needed for the job I am applying for. Same thing for the cover letter.

Do not use bullets or bold letters.
