How Do I Write A Letter Of Intent

Caroline Said:

How do I write a letter of intent (for university application)?

We Answered:

It's just an essay about yourself and you have to answer those three questions. Why do you want to get into their program (that would be your reason for applying)? What's your background (talk about what other schools you're been to, what you've studied, any jobs and volunteer work you've done that is relevant to the major)? What do you want to learn? It's probably a good idea to aim for a basic 5-paragraph style for this essay. Have your intro, a paragraph for each question, and your conclusion.

How Do I Write An Academic Letter of Intent for Grad School Application?

While a letter of intent may seem like a rather arduous and overwhelming task, I don't think you need to spend money on books for this. Save your pennies for tuition!

A letter of intent is typically used in lending or investing situations (check the first link). For schools, a letter of intent is more of a cover letter. You want to be honest and explain clearly why you want to enroll in the program, what your aspirations after the program are, how the program will help you get there, and why you deserve to be in the program.

Some schools refer to this letter as a statement of purpose. For help on how to write this, check the 2nd link.

Good luck!

How will you reach your goal should be broken down into short term goals with about 3 to 5 steps each and use the short term goals to reach the long term goals. Career goals should be 5 years out.
