I need help for writing a letter in English use grammar ???????????

We Answered:

typical nigerian scam!!!
but anyway here ya go.
I am currently living in mumbai where i take money. My brother owes me a $2000 more then what you want,
actually there is no money.
I have a freind located in delhi who i will have my brother send the money to and my freind will be sending you the peice of paper that says its worth money. Since the paper says its worth $2000 more then what you want.
hopefully you will be stupid enough to send me the remainder of the money by western union after depositing the check.
and you will think you made out by my paying you a little more then you were asking for your item for sale......but hahahah. the check will bounce in a few days and you will be **** out of luck.

What would you write in a letter to appeal for a year 6 pupil for a place in a grammar school?

We Answered:

Were there any circumstances as to why he did not make the grade?

Glenda Said:

A little grammar/writing help please!? Not homework, it's a letter.?

We Answered:

I would say "As you suggested, I took a look at this website." If you say "On your suggestion" and then "you had mentioned", it sounds a bit like you are repeating yourself.

Or maybe say "On your recommendation, I took a look at this website." I like recommendation better because it gives the person more of a sense of ownership and accountability to what they really did say.

Alma Said:

Is it acceptable grammar to write, "The letter said, 'Blah.'" even though written words don't actually speak?

We Answered:

It certainly is acceptable grammar.

One can say or write absolute nonsense and still do it in acceptable grammar. And one can write perfect truth in unacceptable grammar.

But that a letter cannot speak is unimportant. Either can a Bible, but there are priest and ministers across the world declaring that the Bible says this and the Bible says that. There are lawyers declaring that the law says this and the law doesn’t say that, or that a particular contract says this or a particular contract doesn’t say that.

See http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionar… for example, from the Miriam-Webster dictionary, meaning 3a (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionar…

“indicate, show <the clock says five minutes after twelve> b: to give expression to : communicate <a glance that said all that was necessary>”

Other dictionaries will tell you the same. The person indulging in sarcasm was being ignorant.

However, the city officials insisted that the building had no historical merit and should be demolished.
