Effective Letter Writing

Gordon Said:

How to write an effective letter?

We Answered:

1) Do not use the same word repeatedly in a sentence (eg: using words such as "and" or "I" repeatedly without commas or full stops.)
2) Try to make your point clearly, and do not flit back and forth (Do not state something, move on from it, and return to the subject further down the letter, as is commonly done in conversation). This gets confusing for the reader to take in efficiently.
3) Use lots of describing words. These can eliminate the need for whole sentences sometimes. (eg: Instead of saying something such as "I feel like everywhere I turn I am trapped somewhere small and it makes me feel really anxious".... you could just say "I feel really claustrophobic".
4) Check, check, and check again when finished! Check spelling, punctuation and grammar.

Other important things to remember if the letter is formal, is to write your address and the date in the top right corner of the page before beginning.
If you have never met the person you are writing to, you must end the letter "Yours faithfully". If you have met, end it "Yours sincerely". Kisses are not really appropriate at the end of formal letters. Paragraphs are not essential, but can help to break up the letter into separate sections which creates ease for the reader.
Hope this helps! :-)

How can I effective write a letter of objection after being reprimanded at work for something I did not do?

We Answered:

I would suggest talking respectfully to the HR or the person in your company that is incharge of these kind of things before you start to make your letter of objection. This way, things may get clarified in a much more efficient way. If you decide to make a letter, I would suggest that you make it as professional as it can get.
(1)Evaluate whether this thing really needs a letter of objection or it may just be a simple matter that can be resolved without such.
(2) Be polite and respectful in your letter in trying to clarify your case.
