Anyone know a good site with an example cover letter for working in a shop?

We Answered:

Just say what job you're advertising for, where you saw it advertised (if you did - otherwise whether looking for a full time/ part time/weekend job).

Then in one paragraph say what skills you have that are relevant to the job you're applying for. Customer experience from helping out in school libary, handling money when you ran the girl guide cake stall that sort of thing - even better if you have real work experience.

Then finish of by saying you are available for interview at their earliest convenience. Then when you'd be available to start.

If you go to Microsoft Online Templates they have some too.

A really good actors cover letter example?

We Answered:

Here are some tips:
-NEVER give your age. They could see you playing much younger or even much older than you actually are. Your age range is determined by the casting directors. They're the ones who let you go to the audition and hopefully call you back to audition for the producers/clients who ultimately decide on whether or not you get the job.

-The coverletter should NOT cover your headshot and resume. Put it behind the headshot and resume and have it so when the agent or his or her assistant pull the stuff out, the headshot and resume will be the first thing seen.

-You want to address it to the SPECIFIC AGENT HEAD of the division you're interested in. It makes the letter personable and doesn't lead the agent to think that your letter was one of hundreds.

-Don't talk about stuff that's already on your resume. It's cliche.

-Don't put yourself down. "I don't have much experience but...." You're already giving the agent a reason why they shouldn't sign you yet let alone meet with you.

-Don't describe yourself in adjectives "hardworking, determined, polite, friendly, etc." It's CLICHE!

Here's all you need to say:

Dear (Specific agent's name),

Hello my name is (your name) and I am currently seeking (insert either commercial or theatrical depending on the addressed agent) representation. Please find enclosed my picture and resume for your consideration. I look forward to meeting you soon! Thank you.

Sincerely,
(sign your name here with a BLUE Ballpoint pen so it's more personal)

Your name (Typed)
(xxx)XXX-XXXX
(Email address)

P.S. (type something quirky/creative and TRUE about yourself to make this concise letter stand out.)

A good cover letter example?

We Answered:

I do not have a copy of my letter with me, but this layout has scored me about 5 or 6 interviews!
Use a profession letter layout (addresses at top and signature sign off at the bottom. Keep the paragraphs simple and to the point, you do not wish to bore them, this should be a letter to draw their interest so that they wish to read your CV and meet you.

1st paragraph: introduce yourself and the title of the position that you are applying for. Also tell them how you found out about the position (My name is ...... and I am writing in regards to the position of 'engineer' at '1234 constructions' as advertised in the 'daily gazette' on 27 May 2009.)
2nd paragraph: this is where you list your skills and experience. Use key works from the position description to blend in your skills to the advertised position.
3rd paragraph: Close with thanking them for reviewing your application and you look forward to hearing from them soon.

I hope this helps
Best of luck in the job hunting!
