I'm looking for sample 'going out of business' letters. I can't seem to find any. Help? Thanks. :)We Answered:
I'm sorry to hear about your business. Sending out a letter is a great idea, but since you note that you only have 5 clients a letter is not the most appropriate route. You may want to consider having a personal conversation with each of your main contacts at each company and let them down easy that way versus having them receive it in a letter. It sounds like these clients will be very disappointed that you're going out of business, and its better to break the news "in person". You can always follow up with a letter, but verbal communication is a better option in this situation.Once you talk to them live, here's a sample follow up letter you can send to them. Hope it helps, and good luck:
Dear (insert customer's name),
As a follow up to our conversation from the other day, I wanted to again confirm that it is true; we are going out of business!
It's with a heavy heart that I have decided to shut down our business, due to (insert reasons). I'll be taking this opportunity to (then outline what you'll be doing next - one sentence)
So, starting on [date], I will no longer be able to continue servicing your (insert work type) needs. (specify what this means to them/how it impacts them - potentially suggest what alternatives they may have)
As one of my valuable customer, I thought you would be interested in this advance notice that we are sending out today. Thank you so much for your support over the past years. It was wonderful to be able to support your business, and I wish you luck in your future.
Thank you,

Where can I find sample sales letters that persuade businesses to purchase advertising space in a newsletter? We Answered:
Just think about it for a minute. If you had a great sales letter would you share it with people? You would also struggle to find such a specific letter.
My advice is to look for good literature on selling and then see if the authors include any sample letters at all. Then adapt to fit your 'product' and audience.
Of course its also debatable whether a letter is the best approach but thats a whole other question :-)
Good luck with it anyway
