Gail Said:
in writing business letters what is the use of reference part?We Answered:
It's basically to let the reader know what the letter is about such asRef: Purchase Order Number BC 1348
Ref: Our Letter date March 10, 2007
It also lets a file clerk know at a quick glance where to file the dumb thing!
Well....at least this is the way it used to be in businesses.

How do I go about starting a business writing letters, love, poetry, etc? We Answered:
The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Associations may be a good avenue to explore. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

Are abbreviations are appropriate when writing business letters? We Answered:
No, because business letters are considered formal writing. Abbreviations should be avoided; if you use them it looks like you don't want to take the time to write it out.Emily Said:
What has empathy got to do with writing business letters and memos? We Answered:
Empathy would apply only to the extent that politeness is involved in the wording. But if a business letter is in any way a sales pitch, then empathy would have a far greater role.
