Writing An Obituary

Vickie Said:

how do I start writing an obituary?

We Answered:

There are many ways, you could begin just with the name of the deceased. Date of death, then accomplishments, then family. I recommend looking at a paper and seeing how others have done it and what seems appropriate to you.

Bryan Said:

When writing an obituary, do you list the children of the deceased from first born to last born?

We Answered:

Yes, it is nearly always from oldest to youngest child. Sometimes people will separate the boys and girls, but even then they will list from the eldest boy to the youngest boy.

Joe Said:

im writing an obituary on Queen Isabella I of Spain, and i need to know if she was giving birth to her 6 child

We Answered:

The "Wiki" answer from Rachelle makes no sense:

"Isabella I of Spain (April 22, 1451 – November 26, 1504) was Queen regnant of Castile and León and she died at the age of 53. It is highly impossible that Isabella died of childbirth since her youngest child, Catherine of Aragon was already 46 years old when Isabella died, and also a grandmother herself."

So the info above says Isabella 1 died at the age of 53 and her youngest child, Catherine Of Aragon, was 46 when Isabella died. Perhaps I misread the info. But that would mean that Isabella gave birth to her youngest child when she was SEVEN YEARS OLD.

Best to do as much research as you can on your own and double check any facts that you find on the internet.

Writing an Obituary for class...How long should it be?

We Answered:

Normally I would say about one paragraph with 10-15 sentences.
Obituaries tend to be short.

Long enough to be memorable, yet not akward.
