Writing A Bio

Josephine Said:

For Vip Talent Connect event where can I learn about writing a Bio?

We Answered:

I would definitely put yourself out there from start to finish! Make sure you start out with where you started out. Did you begin singing at an early age? Did you love to dance at an early age? Did you grab a microphone when you were two years old and decide to never put it down? How over you started out is a great way to start your bio.

Next let people know who you are today and how your past has led you to where you stand today. Let your interests shine through. Write down what you love to do and why you are a unique individual? Don't be shy!! You are talented and there is no reason to hide yourself!

Finally end with your hopes and aspirations. Where do you want to be in the future and why do you deserve to be there?

Remember to thank who ever is reading your bio at the end!

Once you have a basic bio drafted up, remember VIP Talent Connect will help you tweak it to perfection!

Sue Said:

Am I being arrogant in writing my bio?

We Answered:

Not if the awards directly relate to the service you are trying to provide. For example: it makes sense to list achievements associated with music if you perform at weddings, but it's not necessary to list a trophy from cheerleading or something like that because it's not related.

Ian Said:

What are some points I should talk about when writing my AP Bio essay?

We Answered:

Be sure to include:
Part A-Transmission via mitosis

-Replication- has occurred, forming 2 identical chromatids
(or has occurred during S phase or interphase of cell cycle).
-Replication during mitosis/prophase NOT acceptable.
Description of chromosome alignment at metaphase.
Unpaired chromosomes attached at spindle fibers (microtubules) independently of each other by metaphase.
-Description of chromosome movement (separation of chromatids) during anaphase.
- Description of how chromosomes move. Three current hypotheses:
- sliding: contraction (pull) of spindle microtubules.
- oar-like: movement due to kinetochore proteins.
- "PAC Man"-like movement: kinetochores disassemble microtubules.
- Compartmentalization - results in 2 genetically identical daughter cells - cytokinesis.
- Specifies that each daughter nucleus contains A, a, B, b; all alleles still present in each.
-Elaboration-informatively labeled diagrams for something above, kinetochore description, etc. Diagrams must not contradict text.

Part B- Distribution via meiosis to gametes

-Homologous chromosomes (maternal/paternal) pair (synapse) during prophase I
-(zygonema) / pairing forms tetrads (bivalents).
-Description of segregation (separation) of homologues in anaphase I.
- No second replication between meiosis I & II / daughter cells have half the genetic material of parent cell / are haploid.
-Description of separation of chromatids in anaphase II .
- 2 cytokinetic events / result is 4 haploid cells or gametes produced.
-Haploid cells / resulting cells, are not all identical.
- Elaboration - informatively labeled diagrams for something above, etc.

Part C - Relation of Mendel's laws to events in mitosis/meiosis

-Correct statement of law of segregation or results of segregation
("A" separates from "a") during gamete formation. Paired elements separate randomly so each gamete receives one or other (paternal or maternal).
-Segregation is due to separation of homologues during anaphase I.
-Correct statement of independent assortment: during gamete formation, segregating pairs act independently of one another / AB, Ab, aB, ab.
-Independent assortment is due to random alignment of tetrads (homologous pairs) during metaphase I (result is as likely to be AB as Ab...etc.).
-Elaboration
- Linked alleles do not show independent assortment
(exception to Mendel's law).
- Other exceptions to Mendelian transmission : including nondisjunction etc.

Hope that helps =]

Looking for good source for writing bio for websites.?

We Answered:

Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm sure there are plenty of books on this subject. If you can't find anything specific, go through your local library in the section on business, or writing resumes, or professional writing, or promotion, etc. Browse around.

If you dedicate a few hours to this endeavor, it will be well worth it, as you will most certainly stumble upon some resources!

It wouldn't hurt to ask around as well, see if your friends can recommend something.

Good luck!

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to start with writing a bio?

We Answered:

why not do somethihg a little different from the norm? An advantage is that there is no right and wrong creating your own style.

For instance, decide what you might do for a career in life, then start writing it backwards. say you want to practice medicine. Start with a naration bedside of one of your patients. Something like....waiting for Ms. Johnson's test results, I notice on her chart that she is a school teacher. An English teacher, my favorite subject. I remember Mrs. Albrecht, my high school English teacher, always after me to watch my verb and noun agreement. And the day I transferred school, sure I would never fit in. That day in my Sophmore year, when I ws chosen to be class president, and Mr. Harmon calling me into the office to say congradualtions. If I had't of entered that class project, back in my freshman year, I might not have go on to work in the hospital as a clerk, might not have met the former Ms. Clark, might not have gone on to college, changed my major from writing to medicine and gone on to medical school and someone else would be here waiting for the test results to come back.

or something like that
