Write In Japanese

Claude Said:

How do you write Japanese names?

We Answered:

Chan, san, kun, sama, etc, all different types of respect

san - basically used when you've first met someone, or aquaintances ex: Kaoru-san (m or f)
Chan - a playful way to call someone, ex: Kaoru Chan or Ka Chan (cute nicknames - (m or f)
Kun - mostly used to call a males name, someone you've known for quite some time and respect them, ex: Kaoru-kun (mostly male, rarely used for females)
Sama - A very respectful way to call someone, sometimes someone you like, or to call a relative/family member, ex: Kaoru-sama / Onii-sama (oniisama-sister) (m or f)

I hope I helped you a bit!

p.s: there is also Pon which is the silliest girliest way to call another girl ( sorta like chan but girlier...) , ex: Haruhi-pon (mostly female)

Clifton Said:

what is the official way to write japanese?

We Answered:

The Japanese use 3 different scripts for writing, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Hiragana and katakana are syllabary writing scripts. Hiragana can be used for writing everything that's in kanji, just in it's raw syllable form. It's found a lot in like grammatical endings, and words that don't have a kanji. Katakana is all the same sounds as hiragana; however it's used for spelling out foreign loan words, such as ice cream (aisu kurimu; ??????)

Kanji I best like to describe as being like words or the root of the word, in things such as verbs. There's a kanji character for most words in Japanese, and they're borrowed from Chinese kanji, slightly modified in some instances however.

I hope this helps a little bit!
