Write A Novel
Pearl Said:
Is it common to write novel in present tense? We Answered:
It's difficult to sustain a longer work in present tense because of the lack of narrative pauses for things like lengthy internalization's and foreboding. Most people end up writing it as a boring blow by blow narrative which gets annoying after a few thousand words and is the reason it is mostly used in short fiction. You may want to read books like "My Sister's Keeper" and "The Hunger Games" for examples of how it can be sustained in a longer work.Shelly Said:
Why does he write novel about us?We Answered:
It's perfectly legitimate for him to write about something he knows or has experienced. You were an important part of his life and the development of his character and personality to this point, and he has found a story there that he wants to share. If you don't it, tell him that he does not have your permission to use your name or likeness, other than that you really can't stop him. Just don't let anyone know that the person in the story is based on you.Lee Said:
What would be a good topic to write about for a novel? We Answered:
So write a short story, if you don't have any novel-length ideas. Beginning, middle, end. 1000 words is plenty, if you've never finished anything before. It'll take you an evening or two.I do not get people who find writing boring and have no ideas to write about...but are desperate to write a novel. Is it just so you can claim that's what you're doing?
Johnny Said:
Could someone give me a good idea for a novel that I would like to write? We Answered:
So if I help you write this story/book by giving you my plot ideas, will you give me credit and royalties if and when you've sold the story? Didn't think so. Most writers won't give you their plot ideas unless they're getting paid for it. And if you didn't think of all the components of the story yourself, how can you possibly take credit for it? You need to come up with the story yourself - it's YOUR story, and you need to know it inside and out, backwards and forwards. That's part of actually being an author/writer. That's how you grow and develop and hone your craft. Plus, you don't want to run into the problem of a lawsuit down the road, where someone tries to lay claim to your story by saying they contributed part of the plot. Try coming up with a few ideas and bouncing them off of people you trust, people who would give you honest answers.EDIT: Again, I have a great many number of ideas. But like I said, most writers get paid for their ideas. You have the nerve to call me an idiot for not contributing to your story/book, and yet you yourself do not have the creativity to come up with your own plots. If you reread my answer, you will see that I am suggesting that you NEVER use other people's plot ideas, as it can run you into a whole host of problems in the future. If you are considering writing as a profession, you should seriously reconsider it; you won't do well using other people's ideas instead of your own.

Why does he write a novel about this woman? We Answered:
1. He is still in love with her, or2. He has put a lot of effort into all those poems and they're pretty good source material for a novel, so he's not letting them go to waste
