Teaching Writing Skills
Marie Said:
Why is it important to teach students good basic sentence writing skills? ESL?We Answered:
Good basic sentence writing skill is vital to succeed well in life and business.If students understand the process then they are able to write stories, get jobs which involve use of the English Language.
Some of your students will go home to their parents' factory and be expected to write instructions on how to operate a machine or how to put a product together (flat packs etc). If they can write a decent sentence if will save money and enable their business.
They should know the categories into which words are classified according to their functions in sentences:
* Nouns
* Pronouns
* Verbs
* Adjectives
* Adverbs
Then they need to know how to arrange these to be good sentence structure.
There are some good websites and textbooks on this topic.
