How would you compare the writing styles of Hawthorne and Hemingway? We Answered:
i think hawthorne was more concerned with the religious aspects of death. i don't know if hemingway feels man can't be conquered. it's more that you have to put up a brave front. especially in the short stories, there's a sense of melancholy. people don't want to be alone, especially at night, out of fear, and from knowing that's when thoughts of death occur. so death is always on the mind, but you have to go on as if it's not there. otherwise, you'd go crazy with your thoughts.Lucy Said:
What're some of the writing styles that Darren Shan uses?We Answered:
I love Darren Shan!I would say that he writes in a very conversational style, but goes into some deep subjects. His ideas that he uses for both of his sagas are original and very graphic, and his characters are the awesome sauce. Are you reading the Demonata or Darren Shan Saga?

What different writing styles are there? We Answered:
Interesting question. Most beginning writers have a hard time because they try to do something that doesn't feel natural to them, so I wouldn't try to reproduce a "style" if I were you. You're best bet is to start out as plain and direct as possible and you'll find yourself habitually doing things that are unique to you as you write more and more (try to do it every day too). Your own personal style will start to develop. A lot of people call this finding your "voice."What your voice sounds like depends a great deal on what you're reading, so if you really want to develop a certain kind of style, just read a lot of the same author and he or she will start to speak through you (again, this is a very long-term process, so don't force it; just say things as plainly as feels comfortable to you). Here are some examples from things that I've read, and I apologize that most of them are male and novelists:
Hernest Hemingway: minimal, economical, plain.
Jorge Luis Borges: academic, learned, dense.
William Zinsser: straightforward, journalistic, non-fictional.
Mark Twain: sarcastic, pseudo-academic, wordy.
Jack Kerouac: childlike, excitable, hyperbolic.
E. Annie Proulx: colloquial, humorous, ungrammatical.
William S. Burroughs: crazy, surreal, high.
J.R.R. Tolkien: idealistic, thorough, lofty.
There are a lot more, but I'm pretty tired. Hope that helps.

Can you list the styles of writing? We Answered:
Medium story? Long story? Epic story? And many styles are the many genres, sf&f, western, literary, etc.
Invent a style? Unlikely to be publishable, but one never knows.
Use text symbols, emoticons, modern txting abbr, etc
What James Joyce did? Finagan's Wake is hard to comprehend. == literary style.
Diary style? Letters back and forth, this was very popular in 40's and 50's science fiction, great humor results. Otto G. O. Stayinbed was on character in a funny letters exchange.
Cartoon? Webcartoon? totally different 'style' of 'writing'.
You are generally telling a story, generally using the conventions of the English language. Tell the best story you can in the best way that you can. And ignore the question of style, style will be a part of the result, but should not be an aim.
