Aaaahhhh research papers, the evil papers that I'm sure have caused at least a few deaths in students nationwide. Let me just clears something up for you: A research paper is NOT a rewriting of a story. It is meant to inform about some topic, for example the causes and effects of poverty in haiti and the measures being done to stop it. It should be somewhat narrow. So, the first thing you need to do is narrow your topic. So your writing about famous serial killers, WHAT about them? Then, think of three (or actually any number) main, related points that you can discuss in each body paragraph that support what you are trying to say about your topic. The first thing you need to have is an intro paragraph which has a formal hook, a little info and your thesis which should encompass all of your points. Then according to how many points you have (usually 3) write that number of body paragraphs. In each paragraph you should have 1-3 "mini paragraphs" each which have a topic sentence, evidence and objective comments. For example, if your first paragraph was about their early lives, one mini paragraph could be about Charles early life and another Caril's. Then end with a conclusion paragraph that summarizes your paper and ends with a "Bang" sentence. If this is your first paper, don't freak out! You have plenty of time to perfect this skill!
