$600! What a scam! You can buy a software program called WINWAY Resume maker for $40 that will do a better job than this aforementioned service. MS Word also has templates that are pretty good for resumes. Don't worry about the lack of civilian experience. Military experience is much more valuable. It shows ability to take and give orders, attention to detail and able to work on a team. Employers love this type of experience. Buy some good neutral colored resume paper 20-30 pound and make sure the watermark is facing forward and not upside down. The unemployment office will have a vet rep that is highly trained on resumes and job search. Use these free services before you throw your money away.

A lot of Universities in DC will provide resume/writing services. Try American University's writing lab, you may have to claim you were a student or they could just take you as a walk-in and have no problem. They'll really help you get off the ground.

Your best bet (it worked for me!) is to take the resume of a friend, relative, etc. who was sucessful with it. Using their format, change the info to your own. Right a really good cover letter for each place you apply. I revised the resume's of 4 different people using mine to go by, cover letter also, and they all succeeded. Before you waste your money at a writing service, there are free agencies out there that will help you put your resume together. Try searching in your state for a Workforce Investment Board or something similar. If you have trouble finding it, go to the library and ask a librarian to help you find a similar agency in your state.
