Persuasive Writing Techniques

Michelle Said:

what are the persuasive writing techniques?

We Answered:

Through persuasion , a writer tries to change a reader's point of view on a topic, subject, or position. The writer presents facts and opinions to get the reader to understand why something is right, wrong, or in between. Editorials, letters to the editor in newspapers and magazines, and the text for a political speech are examples of persuasive writing.
A good way to use persuasive techniques is to focus on the reader's emotions. For example, if the paper is about pollution and directed to parents, talk about the harmful effects pollution has on childern. If you can get the reader emotional involved in your writing you can do a better job persuading them on the issue.

Francisco Said:

can you give me any techniques of persuasive writing?

We Answered:

Give positive and negative facts about both points (if there is a debate). if not, just give positive and negative about your topic. Only use facts for your paper, not your personal opinion.

Writing a Persuasive Essay

In a persuasive essay you are going to try to convince the reader that your point of view is best. To accomplish this, you must chose a topic which is clear and to the point and one which has more than one side that can be debated. It is important that you understand the other sides of the position so that you can give strong reasons why your way is best. In your essay, you will only present one side.

Like all kinds of five paragraph essays, there is a specific format to be followed.

Definition: Persuasive writing works to convince the reader that a point of view is valid or persuades the reader to take specific action. It is based on a topic that is limited in scope, manageable, and debatable; a topic about which there could be more than one point of view.

Rhetorical questions? Positive adjectives and words with positive connotations? Superlatives such as 'most exciting'? Directly address the audience/reader, using 1st person personal pronouns? Use modal verbs? e.g you can, you could, you should, you will? Maybe repetition and imperative sentences??
