Letter Writing Templates

Brandy Said:

Where on the Internet can I find templates for writing Cover Letters and Resumes??

We Answered:

Monster.com has examples and templates. Beware 200,000 people have the same. Change yours to look different. I receive many resumes and cover letters a day. If I see any that look like a "fill in the blank" form I toss them without reading them.

Christine Said:

does anybody know any decent web sites were i can get free business letter writing templates?

We Answered:

If you have Microsoft office on your computer why not look at the templates in word or publisher?
Alternatively check this out for templates http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/templa…
Also Chris Cardell, a marketing expert, has excellent free email tips which you can join, here is his advice on writing copy [text] for your letters etc http://www.cardellmedia.co.uk/copywritin… I have found his material to be really useful and motivating, he is inspirational and thinks outside the box!
Another suggestion would be to look carefully at what your competitors do, see what you do and don't like about theirs as a consumer, then adapt their ideas to suit your needs.
I hope these help you.

Word 2003 advice on writing letters using templates

We Answered:

I have Word XP (2002), and I'm not familiar with those templates, but this should get rid of the watermark:

1. Click the Format->Background->Printed Watermark menu item.
2. Click the No Watermark radio button.
3. Click OK.

If you want to save the template without the watermark, do this:

1. Do a File->Save As.
2. Give your new template a name.
3. Select Document Template from the Save as Type list box. The directory should change. Be careful, because any other files saved during this Word session will probably tend to go here also.
4. Click OK.

Hope that helps.

Templates for writing to local senators?

We Answered:

Here:

The Hon. Jane Smith
Your Capitol
City, ST Zip

Dear Senator Smith:

If there is a bill already introduced, open the letter by saying:

I am writing to request your support for/opposition to Senate/House Bill No. ___, relating to (describe main purpose of the bill).

If there is no bill, and you want the legislator to introduce one, start by saying:

I am writing to ask you to consider introducing legislation to (describe what you want the bill to do).

If there is already a bill, continue by saying:

I support/oppose this bill (or some part of the bill) because (explain the reason(s) for your support or opposition). I know that there are those who feel differently on this issue (pick one of the strongest arguments that those who would disagree with your position would make to support their own; then refute it respectfully, with facts and logical arguments).

If there is no bill, continue this way:

I believe a law like this is necessary because (explain reason(s)). Some individuals will oppose this bill because (explain reason(s). Again, as above, pick an opposing argument and refute it).

Note: Whether there is a bill already "in the hopper," or you want one introduced, it is good politics to acknowledge the opposition to your bill/idea and rebut the disagreement respectfully. Doing so gives your position credibility.

If there is a bill, close by saying:

I respectfully request that you support/oppose this bill when it comes before the Senate/House Committee on (Name of Committee) or the full Senate/House. I would appreciate knowing what your position is on this legislation. If I can provide additional information on it, please let me know.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely

If there is no bill, close by saying:

Despite these concerns, I hope you will be willing to introduce legislation to accomplish this. I will be happy to discuss this idea with you in greater detail. Please let me know if you need additional information. I can be reached at (e-mail, phone, etc.)

Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Other tips:

Find out as much as you can about what the bill does (or what you want it to do) and what groups by name might oppose it. Find out who your supporters are or might be, let them know what you're doing and ask for their help with their own legislators, if they're different from yours.

It's extremely helpful to the legislator if you know the status of the bill (i.e., whether it's in committee and, if so, what committee; or whether it's headed for a vote on the floor; the date the committee or full Senate/House is scheduled to vote on it; what actions have already been taken on the bill; whether there is a "companion bill" (identical legislation) working its way through the other legislative chamber; what happened to the bill in that body...as much detail as you can find. Most of this information is available online through the website maintained by your state legislature. Make it your business to know where the legislation is at all times.

If the legislator agrees to introduce the bill you have suggested, make sure you stay in touch with his/her staff. Provide contact information. Check in every couple of weeks. Ask if there is some way you can help move the bill along.

I hope this is somewhat helpful. Best wishes to you!

I am looking for a template for writing a letter to ask for sponsorship for my football team?

We Answered:

word has quite a lot of templates. But I have always found it better when making funding applications to decide and write in my own words. Much more personal and makes them want to help. Does not have to be perfect.
