During both my deployment to Bosnia and my recent deployment to Afghanistan I received letters from Canadians of all ages and from US school children from Oklahoma. Other then mail from family members most of these letters were addressed to "Any Canadian Service Member" and we would pick up a few of them at a time from the orderly room. They generally had a box of them sitting there waiting for people to take a few as their time allowed. We often felt bad because we couldn't possibly answer them all but we did what we could as time and duty schedules would allow. I wrote back to the class from Oklahoma (Go Kaiser Elementary!!!!!) and was even invited to join them when I returned. It was a great trip down and one that will remain a highlight of my career I'm sure. I think it would be a wonderful idea. Your kids need to know that other Nations are out there doing some heavy lifting as well.

I would Google: school fonts, you can probably download a software with D'Nealian or other print styles for free. I found D'Nealian to be easy to read and was used at the school and preschool in my area. Try to find a font software with regular, dotted and traceable. The regular is for printing masters, the traceable has arrows and the dotted is for after they know how to form the letters, but you still want them to copy them. I have a font called school text.
