I gave myself until 6 weeks after the wedding to be completely done with all my thank you notes - a deadline, and I stuck to it. Remember that you don't have to write a whole paragraph - just say something thanking them for being a part of your day (if they were at the wedding) and then say thank you for the thoughtful gift & how you have used it/will plan to use it. The most important thing is to be real, don't try to write something fake that you would never actually say - it comes across so impersonal and cookie-cutter. I also wrote in at the bottom the web address where our professional pictures could be viewed. It added a little something extra and then the note wasn't all about the gift. Hope that helps you!

That is fine, like you said you do not know these people very well. It isn't necessary to write them a book in the thank you note. Even if they were really close to you the purpose of the note is to say your thanks and you have done that. Congratulations on the Wedding!

And why send 2 cards?
We've sent our wedding pic to Walmart & they are making holiday thank you cards with out wedding photo on the front and the "holiday look" inside.
They say:
"Thank you so much for joining us on our special day. The ___ family wishes you a Merry Christmas"

INSIDE the card you can write things like (for $$) "your gift has allowed us to have a very special Christmas with lots under the tree"
and for specific gifts - say "The silver you got us will look perfect on our table this holiday"

you could call and offer to help them with their thank you notes. And if they refuse you are done. If they say "oh I have a year" politely inform them that they are mistaken and it is the guest who has a year and it is the bride's duty to send thank you notes as soon as possible
