How To Write Songs
Juanita Said:
How can I write songs without a instrument? Or how can I learn to play guitar for free and easily? Thanks x?We Answered:
if you have a mac, crank up garage band, i think there's similar software for pc's.or get a keyboard that does automatic chords/accompaniment, but these usually sound pretty cheezy.
learning guitar is rarely free and NEVER easy, but it is well worth the effort.

Do you have to be able to write songs to be a pro country singer? We Answered:
Country Music Hall of Famers who did/do not write their material (or wrote very little):Tex Ritter
Red Foley
Gene Autry
Patsy Cline
Kitty Wells
Vernon Dalhart
Little Jimmy Dickens
Tennessee Ernie Ford
Patsy Montana
Brenda Lee
Elvis Presley
Charley Pride
Carl Smith
Glen Campbell
DeFord Bailey (Bailey didn't record much, so this isn't a fair assessment)
George Strait
Sonny James
Emmylou Harris
Barbara Mandrell
Charlie McCoy
Roy Clark
Ferlin Husky
Don Williams
On the other hand, these people are in primarily as songwriters:
Fred Rose
Felice & Boudleaux Bryant
Cindy Walker
Harlan Howard
(Billy Sherrill is also a songwriter, but his bigger contribution to country music is in record production.)
There is no way to tell you how to write songs. To be successful you have to write from the heart. Formulaic material is obvious and it wears thin quickly.
If your goal is to "be big," forget country music and go into acting. Music takes far too much dedication and devotion, and 99% of people who "want" to be famous never EVER get heard outside of the bar they play in on the weekends. You need to work hard to develop a following where you live, because nobody from Nashville is going to be interested if you're not good enough to get your neighbors interested.
You have to develop YOUR sound. Don't try to sound like whoever is popular right now, for two reasons. First, there are a million other people impersonating whoever is popular right now, so you won't stand out. Second, in the time it takes an act to get heard, discovered, signed, recorded, and released whoever they're impersonating can go from #1 act to the "where are they now" section on "Entertainment Tonight."
Most importantly, if you're going to call yourself a country singer ***SING COUNTRY MUSIC***. Do NOT sing pop or southern rock and call it "country," because you're lying to yourself and your listeners or potential listeners. You should know the history of country music so that if someone comes up to you and asks for "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" you don't embarrass yourself by saying, "Who's that by?"
Finally, and if you pay attention to nothing else, read and heed this: before you do ANYTHING, read and study about the music industry. That might be enough to cure you of wanting to be a "pro singer."

How do you write songs and music? We Answered:
I'm taking Music A-level and I compose in my spare time and I find the best method is to sit down at a piano or keyboard if you have one and try out a chord. Either just a simple C major chord or something more complex. Figure out some chord progressions that will make the basis for your piece. Then, if you have already created lyrics, sing the words in whatever rhythm you think sounds best. Make sure it flows and sounds singable. Then randomly hum out snippets of tune that go well with the set of chords you already made. Once you've composed your main melody, you can introduce other instruments, such as a guitar or whatever. Good luck <3Jay Said:
How can i write songs without a bass line, just a two man band like White Stripes? We Answered:
Just use effects pedals when you play your guitar lines to compensate for the lack of a bass player. There are plenty of bands out there that are unorthodox when it comes to lineups.Sunn O))) - two guitarists
Earth - used to be one guitar and one bass
Zombi - one bass, one keyboard/drummer
Ratatat - one guitar/keyboards, one bass/keyboard
The Doors didn't have a bassist when they first started. The bands Pig Destroyer, A.C., Agoraphobic Nosebleed, XXX Maniak and Crotchduster have no bassist.

How do I write chord progressions and riffs for new songs on guitar? We Answered:
If you're referring to writing music notation it can be a tedius undertaking, but a joyful one upon completion. If you have not taken such a challenge in the past, consider doing it now with the music sheets and a #2 pencil. It may not be necessary to write out the notes of the chord progressions unless you want to go full bore with the composition. Know what chords can be used in any key signature, experiment a bit by throwing in chords you would ordinarilly not do, and make your selections.
Good luck in your composing.

How do I write good songs? We Answered:
Ok, I had the same problem as you. I play guitar, intermediate, not crazy solos, but then look at Kurt Cobain, my skill level is probably close to his but I just have a different style.Anyway, I had tons of trouble, and it helped to first find yourself a drummer for your new band. That will help I swear. It makes you feel like you can go somewhere and its real music. After you get a drummer, go to a Jam Session, where you guys just play with no music whatsoever and try playing real songs together than go at making your own riffs. I suggest going to blanksheetmusic.com to print some tabs.
When you hear a nice riff in your jamming, be sure to write down EVERYTHING. even if you decide that you're changing it, keep the old one, you might need it later.
Another thing, you do NOT need a bassist in your band, but at some point you may want one.
Although you asked on writing songs, I think the best way is to get a band together, and just naturally play some basic chords and notes.
Then you need to pick a name, which is the hardest part ever. What's funny is you think names sound gay but if you were to pick the name Pearl Jam if the real band didn't exist it'd sound gay, along with other real bands.
Then you need to go play at your school talent shows, the park, your garage, etc. More importantly, have fun and enjoy playing. If you don't like playing your music, you shouldn't.
