Generally that would be a work for hire. Go to www.coyright.gov there is a ton of information there.

You would still put the writer's name on their work. That's the right thing to do. Having copyright rights doesn't mean you get to pretend that you wrote it. It means that you have to right to reproduce the work, sell it to someone else to reproduce it, bequeath the right in your will, or go after someone who reproduces it without your permission. It doesn't mean you get to put your name to the work and pretend that you wrote it.

Yea, that's called PR - public relations - a politically correct term for journalists who abuse the ethics of journalism to promote corporate interests for money. Many organizations and individuals do it so that their image in he public is good, even if their activities are not.

In your dashboard, go to Settings>General.

Click the checkbox next to Membership>Anyone can register

Next to New User Default Role select "Contributor" from the popup menu. This role can write and manage his/her posts, but not publish them.

Also check out a plugin like "Role Manager" to moderate publishing.

its great you're trying to set up something like this. you could make a geocities page (totally free & really easy) and write your articles on there for awhile... give your URL to article writers or to your school newspaper or even town newspaper and see if you can get some things posted there... good luck and if you make a web site let me know, i'd love to read your articles - (jtawsgirl@yahoo.com)
