How To Write A Screenplay

Oscar Said:

HOW DO I WRITE A SCREENPLAY FOR A MOVIE?

We Answered:

There should be a book or two in your Library. If not, try an on-line bookstore.
The most difficult task in any writing, particularly a screenplay, is getting the dialog correct, in keeping with the characters and setting.

Nicholas Said:

How good of an idea is it to get professional help on my written screenplay?

We Answered:

What you are seeking basically is an editor. Well sure, you can find editors in Literary Marketplace. They cost money. Generally 5 - 15 dollars per page based on 250 words. However, many authors who are smart offer their editors points as well because then they are more vested in the project and it comes out better. All that is done contractually before they do any work for you. They can't come back later asking for anything more. Once their contract is fulfilled and they have been paid as stated, your work with them is done -- unless you have offered them some points. But that is up to you.

In addition to being an author, I am also a ghostwriter. Most of my ghostwriting contracts are for money only. However I do have one or two clients who have offered me points as well and we have worked it out.

Just make sure you have any contracts you sign checked over by an attorney. And most editors will edit a couple pages for free just so you can see their style. Talk to them a few times, too, so that you make sure you gel and can work together successfully. Pax-C

First, retard is offensive, so watch it.

Second, you can write a screenplay in Microsoft Word.

How can I set up microsoft word oe wordpad to write screenplays?

You definitely don't need to buy a special program. Word will work fine. I've included some links on how to format your screenplay. Good luck!

Marion Said:

How do screenwriters write their screenplay? What protocol?

We Answered:

You do not write in prose, as that means even more work to convert it to industry standards

You do make outlines and notes as to what the beats are and what you want to say before you even start the actual typing.

There is no "standard" as to scenes; that is determined by your story.

For me. I have an idea and i start writing (in industry standard) and then, when the rough draft is complete, go back and start the editing process
