How Do You Write A Cover Letter

Eleanor Said:

How do you write a cover letter on the Internet when you apply for a job within the company that you work for?

We Answered:

You need to attach your cover letter and resume.
For the cover letter:it is in three parts..make it not too long.
first part: talk about you
Second part: what caught your attention for the job
Third part:the contribution you could give for this job.

Question; what is your current job? and the one you' re applying?

Brad Said:

In general how do you write a cover letter?

We Answered:

Cover letters should be 3 paragraphs:

1st Paragraph -- How you came to learn about the job.

2nd Paragraph -- Brief outline of your experience or accomplishment

3rd Paragraph -- Ask for an interview.

Here goes:

Dear Mr. Future Bossman:

I saw the Molecular BioChemist position advertised at Monster.com, and I am enclosing my resume that outlines my background and experience, which i believe is very well suited for the advertised position.

From my resume, you will notice that I have more than 10 years experience as a biologist and laboratory technician, working in the field of microorganisms. In the last five years, I have published seven articles on biology for a variety of scientific journals including "Scientific American".

I look forward to an opportunity for an interview at a mutually convenient time to learn more about career opportunities at Biochemists R Us.

Sincerely

How to write cover letters if it's for MANY job applications?

We Answered:

All HR people can smell a generic cover letter--and that gets you no points.

Your cover letter should be altered for the job, company, position and your background.

In these times, if you don't do something to set yourself above your competition, you are going to have a tough time getting a job.

I always suggest that you spend at least the same amount of time looking for work, as you want to work. So, if you are looking for a 40 hour a week job, you should put in 40 hours a week looking.

Good luck

How do you write a cover letter to submit to a talent agency?

We Answered:

Assuming you have your actors headshot, along with your resume.... your cover letter should be a brief introduction of yourself. Example-Name, Age, location, why you were drawn to their agency, why you would 'fit' like qualities, and what you are looking for, i.e. commercial representation, theater representation and such. Let them no you have attached your resume, and photo, along with contact information. Always thank them in closing, and that would just about cover it. Do not recap your experience as that is in your resume already.

How do you write a cover letter for publishing a piece of fiction?

We Answered:

It should be brief. The first paragraph should address the purpose of your letter. The second paragraph should give a brief synopsis of your story. Make sure you give enough details but don't give away everything. The third paragraph should give a brief biography about yourself. Be sure to include educational background, previous publications, and anything that you feel would be relevant to the publication. Finally, a typical closing paragraph, thanking the publisher for his/her time.

Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, and email address in the letter. Also, be sure to follow any special guidelines the publisher may have.

how to write an email cover letter for an unspecified position?

We Answered:

It's similar to a snail mail cover letter. No date or address since that's already on your E-Mail header. Try something like:

To Whom it May Concern:

I am responding to the invitation at your website to E-Mail my CV...

How do I write a general cover letter for a job application website?

We Answered:

A cover letter is always a good idea. It gives enough information about you and your capabilities so that the employer will be interested in talking with your personality.
The letter should relate specifically to the company and person to whom you are writing. If you haven't already done so, find out as much as you can about each firm and individual you plan to ask for an interview. Try to talk with some one who has been working with the firm, ask for literature, such as the annual report that explains the firm and its policies, check the company's WEB SITE, or check out the firm at Hoover's Online, The Wall Street Journal's Career Journal or Wet Feet's Company Profiles.
1. Use correct grammar.
2. Address it to a specific person by name, including the job title in the inside address.
Include the following:
a) Brief greeting including how you heard about the opening
b) The position you are applying for
c) Your basic qualifications for the position and any accomplishments or career highlights that might interest the employer enough to contact you
d) Any other information you feel is pertinent to the specific job without repeating information found in your resume. Justify any holes in the resume if necessary, like the five year gap when you didn't work at all!
e) End with a paragraph requesting an interview, including your phone number and e-mail address and when you can be reached.
BE SURE YOU INCLUDE THE DATE ...A RETURN ADDRESS... AND AN INSIDE ADDRESS.
E-mails don't need addresses.
Sign the letter in blue or black ink only. NO EMOTICONS :)

Discuss It!
