1700 years ago might be accurate, It may be difficult to date accurately as 'the bible' is made up odf many parts. I recall constantine and a comitee put together the new testement, however don't forget there were 273 is gosples to choose from. He chose 4 (and the catholic bible has additional books in it.) The old testement, many theorys are around. One of which is that it is a collection of 4 main contributors J D E P, I think J is for judges P for Priests but I cant remember the other two. This is only a theory though, hope this helps a little and mabee someone more knowlegable can expant or correct my inacuracies
