Email Writing Samples

Carolyn Said:

Samples of business emails, email writing, I want to invite a new partner / employee in our business.?

We Answered:

You can probably find some templates in Microsoft Works, or even MS Office under 'cover letters'.
The main thing you want is to create interest in someone to join your venture.
With that in mind, you first 'think' yourself into their shoes - consider if it were YOU who was invited, what would make you want to join?
Give more emphasis on how joining wold be beneficial to the potential partner than how great your business is.
Towards this goal, of course you will need to know what the potential preferences are of the people you are contacting with your email or letter, and that brings us to 'market research'.
Before you spend any time drafting a letter, consider the addressee: are they likely to join? Why (for them?)
After you have a true target audience, the format of the letter does not matter as much as the contents.
If any of the other answers turn up a good solution for you, good fortune to you.
If you would like to be in touch for further suggestions, feel free to contact me under 'source'.

Sample email regarding How to ask for full time job ?

We Answered:

I'd call him, not email. (unless he's one of those types that hates the phone - like my boss.)

"Hey blah, I was wondering if you knew of some full time positions? I'm preparing to graduate this December and really enjoyed working with you during my internship."

If you must email him, still keep it short.

Dear blah.

I really enjoyed working with you during my internship. I am currently preparing to graduate with a degree in blah from blah-U and was wondering if you were aware of any openings?

Please feel free to contact me via email, or call me at (xxx) xxx-xxxx.

Thanks for your assistance,
full name.

(fill in the blah's and xxx's as appropriate)

Sally Said:

What do they want when they ask for Writing samples?

We Answered:

You should ask her. Asking questions isn't a sign of ignorance. Don't agree to something if you don't know what it is. Can you call her back and ask what specifically she needs?

Andre Said:

How to offer writing samples?

We Answered:

I would never use wording such as "if you have concerns." If they don't have concerns, you have just put the thought in their minds.

Instead, I would say, "writing samples available upon request."

Jeffrey Said:

I'm applying for editorial internships that require writing samples and am having problems with emailing them!

We Answered:

I believe Adobe lets you create a .pdf file for free from their website. If you convert your original document to an adobe pdf format, it will retain your original formatting, and most everyone has the software to open and read pdfs so you should be fine. Just attach it to the email.

?? Why don't you just send the word doc as an attachment? Is it required to be in html?
