Dora Said:

Have you used a CV writing Service in the UK? How much did you spend and was it worth it?

We Answered:

As a '2IC', I have been responsible for reading CV's and weeding out the dross. I can seriously state that NO CV is worth £400 of your money. Even If you are going for a high profile job, you should be capable of writing a CV.

As you have access to a PC, why not use one of the 'Word' PC wizards.
CV's, as a first-point-of-contact can be quite important, but as long as you follow a few very rough guidelines (clear, good spelling and grammar, no more than 2 pages, etc) then the CV should be passed to the second stage (in depth reading and skills matching)

Ronnie Said:

Has anyone used a CV / resume writing service? Are they any good?

We Answered:

I'm not sure anyone's better-qualified to write your CV than you.

You're more familiar with the subject-matter.

Bessie Said:

£140 for a CV writing service is too much?

We Answered:

If someone is prepared to pay it then NO it is not too much.

Mary Said:

Is it really useful to get your cv professionally written?

We Answered:

Depends - and I answer this as both a recruiter and a CV Writer.

Firstly, getting a job depends on three things: knowing what you want and being qualified for it (a third fail here); communicating those skills (which is where the CV comes in): and then applying in the right method. If all you bought was a CV rewriting service, then it would take you so far, but in some markets - such as medical sales - competition is tough and your results wouldn't be that much better than a self-written CV.

There are some people who can not see themselves, and others who can not communicate themselves: both will probably flounder for a while, and take an age to get a job. Then there are others who just want to be assured of the outcome/result - which seems where you sit!

No one can promise you a job just for rewriting a CV, but if you feel you need a service then make sure that you get more than a CV rewrite. Other wise, as others have said, just go and find a template to fill out.

If you need any help, happy to give you some feedback and thoughts - just drop me a line.

Good Luck!

I run a company that does that (I'm in Canada but I have clients all over the world). If interested, please send me an email.
