Millions of kids each year write for their school newspaper. It is definitely a good extra curricular but not something that really makes you stand out. Colleges are looking for more leadership positions that you held or something that you put a lot of time and effort into that makes you stand out

I would apply for Financial Aid (finaid.gov I think) and then look at Fastweb.com and sign up there. They have a lot of scholarship listings. Also try searching for grants and scholarships on Google and see what pops up. A lot of government grants are out there for people returning for school but no one knows to look for them, so the money never gets used.

The best way to find scholarships specifically for creative writing and acting is to utilize the big scholarship listing books that you can buy or check out of the library. (library~much cheaper!) These books list scholarships by your interests, hobbies, race, intended college major, etc....

I love these books because you can find scholarships in them that you will not find through any internet scholarship searching sites.
