Creative Writing Competitions

Andy Said:

Know of any creative writing competitions?

We Answered:

Um, even though school is out, they have some competitions for kids. If you win, you win money, and even get your work published..I know it can't help you out now, but if you wait, then you can enter during the school year. Hope this helps.

Kenneth Said:

does anyone know any free creative writing competitions to enter that are for kids and teens?

We Answered:

Look in Writer's Market 2009 and 2008 Writer's and Short story Market where they list hundreds of available contests. Be sure to check if they are still open and follow the guidelines

Any fiction or creative writing competitions for a 14 year old?

We Answered:

Writerscafe.org is a free website (safe for 14 year olds, I joined when I was 13) with a few contests that offer money as a first prize. However, these contest should be taken with a grain of salt because it is the contest moderator's duty to pay and writerscafe can be in no way held responsible for lack of payment.

A lot of authors offer advice and contests on their websites, so check her favorite authors and see if they have any contests going on. Sometimes there will be contests where the author will review a short story/chapter/poem written by the winner.

Where can I enter an official creative writing competition?

We Answered:

Hey,

There are lots of creative writing competitions run constantly on the internet.
My favourite is http://www.strictlyshakespeare.com as contests are more involved and the submissions are open to public voting.
But you can also check http://www.prizemagic.co.uk/html/writing_comps.htm
http://www.firstwriter.com/competitions/
or
http://www.writers-free-reference.com/contests.htm
for current lists or many other sites.

Best of luck :)
