The U of Illinois is Champaign is good, too, but an old friend of mine is a professor there so I'm biased.

For what it's worth, if I had college to do over again, I think I'd put Knox at the top of my list.

Honestly, choosing a college depends on you. If you truly want to major in creative writing, screen writing, or literature, there are many colleges that have those majors, but the choice is ultimately up to you. There's price, admissions, the major you're going for and if the school has a strong enough program in that field, in additon to location (you want to attend a college in Northern California). There isn't much that I can exactly do, but point you towards the collegeboard.com.
Then, click "for students" and under find college, click on college search and from there take the college matchmaker. It will ask you to choose from type of school, location, campus life, activities & sports, majors & academics, admission, cost & financial aid, and deadlines. Not only will it provide you a list of colleges under your stated preference, but provide you with detailed information about those colleges including their websites. There are also a variation of articles on collegeboard that will help you decide which college to go to if you're undecided or stuck. Definately look into: http://www.collegeboard.com

Check out the Iowa Writer's Workshop at the University of Iowa. I know many fine writers have gone through this program.
